വൈക്കം മുഹമ്മദ്‌ ബഷിറിന്റെ ഐതിഹാസിക കഥാപാത്രം എട്ടുകാലി മമ്മൂഞ്ഞിനെ നാമെല്ലാം ചേര്‍ന്ന് ക്ലീഷേ ആക്കി മാറ്റിയെങ്കിലും,കൊച്ചി മെട്രോയുടെ പിതൃത്വം അവകാശ പ്പെട്ട് ജൂണ്‍ ഇരുപതാം തിയതി കോണ്ഗ്രസ്കാര്‍ കൊച്ചിയില്‍ നടത്തിയ അപഹാസ്യമായ പ്രകടനം കണ്ടാല്‍ അവരെ മമ്മൂഞ്ഞിനോടല്ലാതെ ആരോട് ഉപമിക്കും.തലയില്‍ ആള്‍ പാര്‍പ്പില്ലാത്ത കോണ്ഗ്രസുകാര്‍ ഇതിലപ്പുറം തറയാകും,എന്നാല്‍ ഉമ്മന്‍ചാണ്ടിയും, ചെന്നിത്തലയും ഇതു മുന്കൂട്ടി കാണേണ്ടതായിരുന്നു.കോണ്ഗ്രസിന്റെ അരുമ സന്തതികളെ ഒന്നൊന്നായി പിതൃശുന്യര്‍ ആക്കി കൌശലക്കാരന്‍ ആയ മോദി എന്ന മമ്മൂഞ്ഞ് അവരുടെ പിതൃത്വം അവകാശപ്പെട്ട് ഞെളിയുമ്പോള്‍ ആ അവകാശവാദത്തിന്റെ പൊള്ളത്തരം തുറന്നു കാട്ടാന്‍ ഒരു ശ്രമവും നടത്താതെ ഇത്തരം കോമാളിത്തരം കാട്ടി നാണം കെട്ടിട്ടും ഇന്നു ന്യയീകരണവുമായി ഇറങ്ങിയ കോണ്ഗ്രസ് നേതൃത്വത്തെ ഓര്‍ത്ത് ലജ്ജിക്കാം . ആധാറും,ജന് ധന് യോജനയും മോദി ചുളുവില്‍ അടിച്ചുമാറ്റിയ കൊണ്ഗ്രസിന്റെ പദ്ധതികള്‍ ആണ്. മന്‍മോഹന്‍സിംഗിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ നന്ദന്‍ നിലെക്കനി ആധാറിനായി ഒത്തിരി വിയര്‍പ്പൊഴുക്കി. 2009ല്‍ Financial Inclusion എന്ന ആശയം മൂന്നോട്ടു വച്ചത് അന്നു റിസര്‍വ് ബാങ്ക് ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ ആയിരുന്ന സുബ്ബ റാവു ആയിരുന്നു. ഇതിനായി ആദ്യം തി രഞ്ഞടുത്തതാകട്ടെ എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയും. 2010ല്‍ എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയെ എല്ലാ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ബാങ്ക് അക്കൌന്റ് ഉള്ള ജില്ലയായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. ആ പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങളില്‍ സഹകരിക്കാന്‍ എനിക്കും അവസരം ഉണ്ടായി. 2011ല്‍ തിരുവന്തപുരത്ത് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച ചടങ്ങില്‍ വച്ച് കേരളത്തെ എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ബാങ്ക് അക്കൌന്റ് ഉള്ള ആദ്യ സംസ്ഥാനം ആയി റിസര്‍വ് ബാങ്ക് ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കു മ്പോള്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഉമ്മന്‍ചാണ്ടിയും, ധനമന്ത്രി കെ എം മാണിയും സന്നിഹിതര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു. ഇതിന്‍റെ രേഖകള്‍ എല്ലാ ബാങ്കുകളുടെയും സോണല്‍ ഓഫീസുകളിലും, റിസര്‍വ് ബാങ്കിന്‍റെ ഏറണാകുളം, തിരുവനന്തപുരം ഓഫീസുകളിലും ഉണ്ട്. ഇതു തുറന്നു പറയാനുള്ള ധൈര്യം ബാന്കുകളുടെ നട്ടെല്ലില്ലാത്ത നേതൃത്വത്തിനുണ്ടാവില്ല.സ്വന്തം പദ്ധതികളുടെ പിതൃത്വം കുതന്ത്രങ്ങളിലുടെ മോദി തട്ടിയെടുക്കുമ്പോള്‍ സത്യം ജനങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കാന്‍ ഒരു ശ്രമവും നടത്താതെ ഇതു പോലുള്ള തറപ്പരിപാടികളുമായി ജനങ്ങളെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിച്ചാല്‍ അവര്‍ കൊണ്ഗ്രസില്‍ നിന്ന് ഇനിയും അകലും.

Happy Good Friday

Christians are minuscule minority in India - 2.02% of 1.30 billion population.All need not know the intricacies of the faith, its tenets and theology. The birth and death of Jesus Christ are the two pillars on which the Christendom rests.Basic knowledge of World's largest religion is expected of the rulers of any civilized country. The wishing of happy Good Friday by the Central Cabinet ministers shows the nadir the Indian polity has touched under BJP rule.See the list of the wishers Suresh Prabhu - railway Minister,Mahesh sharma - cultural minister,Dharmendra Pradhaan - petroleum minister,Dr Najma Heptulla - minority minister,Shanavas Hhussain - senor leader of the party. Of this Dr.Najma is the grand daughter of the great freedom fighter and India's firs minister of education, Dr.Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. Her camaraderie with the the unlettered Sangh Parivar lowered her intellect. Their supreme leader's knowledge of history is limited to Monteri Lal and Three Idiots. How can we expect more than this from his chelas...

                           Addressing a meeting of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha,BJP's youth wing at Vrindavan, BJP chief Amit Shah on 5th March 2016,made fun of fromer PM. Dr.Manmohan Singh. "Manmohan Singh visited more countries than Modi but his visits made little impact.He would read from two pages he carried with him which were written in English. At times he would read the speech meant for Thailand in Malaysia and the one meant for Malaysia in Thailand. Modi spoke in Hindi in the UN and the whole country felt proud" 
                        The soft spoken Sardar made umpteen speeches in the UN, Universities like Yale,  Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton and Harvard, conclaves of scientists, artists and law makers abroad with dignity and grace. Dr.Singh never spoke like a juggler or goof,when he spoke the entire world heard him with seriousness. To comprehend what Dr.Manmohan Singh spoke needs no erudition but education and intelligence.
                        We had other great PMs as well, our first PM, Jawaharlal Nehru was loved and venerated by all the world leaders. A reading of the book "The Tryst Betrayed: Reflections on Diplomacy and Development"by the former foreign secretary Jagat S. Mehta will help those who have scant knowledge of our history, to learn what our legacy was. Winston Churchill who had a pathological antipathy for Indians and its leaders wanted to see Jawaharlal, when the latter went to London to participate in the meeting of the Commonwealth leaders. Nehru immediately sent a message "Sir I shall come to you". After meeting Nehru Churchill said "Mr.Prime Minister I had shown great injustice to you, you were like the lost prodigal to us. 
You saved the heritage of the British empire".Next time when Nehru visited England Churchill took him to the school at Harrow where they studied and they sang together their old songs.
                         When Nehru visited Switzerland, he went to the house of Charlie Chaplin, the great genius of 20th century filmdom and they had dinner together. Chaplin said to Nehru "I love  whatever I heard and read of you, but I have a complaint,"You are a teetotaler". Nehru replied "if that is your only complaint I shall now drink a sherry for you". Mr.Mehta narrates his encounters with other PMs like Morarji Desai,Indira Gandhi and Vajpai who have done this country proud.
                        Mega shows staged and stage-managed at Times Square and Wembley, the Barack, Jukker (Zuckerberg) calls or the selfies taken with the celebrities standing on toes putting an arm on their shoulder are no signs of greatness.
