DIG Jacob Thomas is always in the news - for all the right and wrong reasons. He was recently crowned "the news maker of the year" by a vernacular daily.He is a fighter,a crusader,a referee waiving yellow and red cards always.His filing of suits against the corrupt and the debauched public servants
reminded me of Tennyson's poem Charge of the light brigade.The people are amazed,they found a Messiah in him, a ray of hope.
Jacob who acts with steely resolve to end the pandemic corruption in public life conveniently forgot the words of Messiah "he who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw stone at her".In Shakespearean parlance "Caesars wife must be above suspicion"
The case against Jacob Thomas. While on a three month leave from the post of Kerala Transport Development Financial Corporation MD he worked as director of TKM Institute of Management
Kollam at monthly salary of Rs.1.69 lakh for thee months. He availed leave without prior permission of the Government, took up paid assignment. it is naive to believe that Jacob an intelligent and knowledgeable officer was unaware of the service rules. When a complaint was filed against Jacob in the High Court he returned the salary to the college. The Government regularized his leave with retrospective effect using special powers vested with it.
The moral. As things stand now there is no charge against Jacob Thomas. But if Jacob, the Caesarean wife is in the silhouette of suspicion ??????
